Change is hard at first,
Messy in the middle and
Gorgeous at the end
-Robin Sharma
This quote is so simple yet it says so much. Change is freaking hard. We get too comfortable in sameness. The same, exhausting routines, facing the same challenges, dealing with the same problems, using the same surviving but not thriving techniques. This sameness becomes so ingrained in us that we feel our world will end if we submit to change. Trust me, it won’t.
Some relationships many end. Your job may end. A few friendships may end. Your likes on social media may end but your world will not end.
Change will also cost you. It’s going to cost you your old ways, your old mindset, your old goals and your old life. It will cost you your comfort zone and it will cost you conscious effort. But you know what? Your “losses” and your “costs” are insubstanstial compared to what awaits you on the other side.
Once you decide to change, you will discover a hidden deep love of yourself that helps you set healthy boundaries. You will start to draw from a strength you never knew that you had to help propel you forward. You will find that what you thought you couldn’t live without is being replaced by something far greater. You won’t lack but rather transition into situations, things and relationships that better suit who you’ve become.
So the real questions you need to ask yourself are: In three months, six months, or a year from now, will you be thanking yourself for making the necessary changes that help you heal, grow, and move forward? Are you willing to surrender the old, release the toxic and embrace all the things that come with change Or will you be apologizing to yourself for remaining in your sameness?
